• your popcorn kernals might not be dry enough. If they have too high a water content they will not pop, however, if they are too dry they will not pop either. If you want you can follow the directions I gave to Ronnie about finding out the moisture content of your corn. It should be between 13.5 to 14%.
  • I grew my own Organic popcorn this year, I just harvested It and have about 10 lbs of black popcorn. I tried about a month ago to pop it in an air popper (we are vegan and need to stay away from oils) it was a total failure, about 5 kernels popped out of about 2 ounces. Is humidity A big factor with this? Any ideas will help. Thanks
  • you can do an experiment if you have an air popper. Weigh out 20 kernels of popcorn. Pop it in the air popper, and weigh out the popped kernels and any un-popped kernels. The difference in weight will be the water that is driven off. Divide the weight of the popped kernels by the weight of the un-popped kernels and multiply by 100. That will give you the % of water in the un-popped kernels.
